The type Y11 dry running safety seal is a solution to contain fugitive emissions.

The dry running safety seal provides extended performance in sealing low specific gravity fluids and volatile organic compounds while providing an economical alternative to double seals with liquid barrier systems.

Through the use of a specially designed bellows and optimal face materials the dry running safety seal has proven itself as a reliable dry running back up seal eliminating the need for liquid lubrication.

The high initial capital cost of these systems, the cost of barrier fluid and cooling water, and the long term maintenance costs are eliminated. Also eliminated are potential seal failures resulting from problems associated with the operation of typical liquid barrier systems.

The dry running safety seal is designed as a self contained cartridge and when used with a standard primary seal requires less axial space than typical double seal arrangements.

To maximize emissions control it is suggested the barrier area be vented to a vapour recovery system.
